The Small Print

Privacy & cookies

This page explains, in plain English, what happens with your data when you visit The Single Mum Blog. The short version: nothing happens without your say-so, and we never sell your data to anyone.

Cookies and your consent

When you first visit, you may see a small banner asking whether you're happy for us to use cookies for analytics and advertising. Here's how it works:

  • Nothing fires until you accept. Analytics and advertising tags only load after you press Accept. Until then, no analytics or advertising cookies are set.
  • Decline means decline. If you press Decline, your choice is stored in your browser and those tags simply never load. You won't be nagged on every page.
  • Changing your mind. Your choice lives in your browser's local storage. If you clear your browsing data (or use a different browser or device), the choice is reset and you'll be asked again — which also means you can withdraw consent at any time just by clearing your site data for thesinglemumblog.com.

Analytics

When enabled — and only after you've accepted — we use Google Analytics to understand which posts people find useful: things like page views, roughly where visitors come from, and what gets read most. It helps us write more of what's genuinely helpful. This information is aggregated; we're not peering at individuals.

Advertising pixels

Again only after you've accepted, the site may load Meta (Facebook) advertising pixels. The pixel used is selected based on your general region — for example, visitors in the UK may be matched with a different pixel than visitors elsewhere. These pixels help measure whether any advertising we run actually works. If you decline the banner, no pixel loads at all.

Affiliate links

Some posts contain affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer may know you arrived from this site, but we don't receive any personal information about you or your purchase. We only link to things we'd genuinely recommend to a friend.

Partnership content

If a post is sponsored or created in partnership with a brand, we say so clearly in the post itself. Honest labelling, always — you should never have to guess.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal data. Ever.
  • We don't run accounts, newsletters or comment forms that collect your details.
  • We don't load tracking of any kind if you've declined the banner.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and PECR), you have the right to decline non-essential cookies, to withdraw consent you've previously given, and to ask what information is held about you. Since this site doesn't collect or store personal details itself, the simplest way to exercise most of these rights is the banner and your browser settings — but you're always welcome to get in touch.

Questions?

If anything here isn't clear, or you'd like to ask about your data, pop over to the About page and get in touch — we'll always do our best to help.
