Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain English, what happens with your data when you visit The Single Mum Blog. The short version: nothing happens without your say-so, and we never sell your data to anyone.

Who we are

The Single Mum Blog is an independent UK blog, published at https://thesinglemumblog.com/. If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, email us at hello@thesinglemumblog.com.

Information we collect

This site has no user accounts, no comment forms and no newsletter sign-up, so there is very little we could collect. In practice it comes down to:

• Anonymous usage data. Standard analytics information such as which pages are visited, the type of device and browser used, and the approximate region a visit comes from (country or city level — never a precise address).
• Your email address — only if you email us. If you write to hello@thesinglemumblog.com, we receive your address and whatever you choose to include, and we use it only to reply to you.

Cookies and analytics

When you first visit, you'll see a small banner asking whether you're happy for us to use cookies for analytics and advertising. Here's how it works:

• Nothing fires until you accept. Analytics and advertising tags only load after you press Accept. Until then, no analytics or advertising cookies are set.
• Decline means decline. If you press Decline, your choice is stored in your browser and those tags simply never load. You won't be nagged on every page.
• Changing your mind. Your choice lives in your browser's local storage. Clearing your site data for thesinglemumblog.com resets it — which also means you can withdraw consent at any time.

If — and only if — you accept, we use three third-party services to understand readership and measure advertising. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Analytics 4 — traffic measurement: aggregate page views, approximate visitor regions and device types. See Google's privacy policy.
• Meta (Facebook) advertising pixel — advertising measurement and audiences. The pixel that loads is selected based on your general region, and it may set cookies and share standard browsing signals with Meta. See Meta's privacy policy.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless traffic statistics that don't track individual visitors.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some posts contain affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Some outbound links carry tracking parameters so the retailer or network knows you arrived from this site — but we don't receive any personal information about you or your purchase. If a post is sponsored or created in partnership with a brand, we say so clearly in the post itself — honest labelling, always. We only link to things we'd genuinely recommend to a friend.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your personal data. Ever.
• We don't run accounts or comment forms that collect your details.
• We don't send newsletters or marketing emails — there's nothing to sign up for.
• We don't load tracking of any kind if you've declined the banner.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and PECR) — and, depending on where you live, the EU GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — you have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to request a copy of it, and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Since this site stores almost nothing, that's usually a short conversation: email hello@thesinglemumblog.com and we'll help.

You can also opt out of the measurement described above at any time: decline the consent banner (or withdraw consent by clearing your site data for thesinglemumblog.com), install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, adjust your Meta ad preferences, or use your browser's cookie controls and tracking protection.

Children's privacy

The Single Mum Blog is written for adults — parents and caregivers. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@thesinglemumblog.com and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data ever changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date at the top. No silent edits — significant changes get explained in plain English, right here.
